Abstract

In this study , we have proposed to study electro-optic properties of HAN and HTN mode . We proposed a liquid crystal display device with a novel HTN (Hybrid-TN) operation mode. The operation mode of LCDs involves both hybrid alignment and twisted director configuration and it add some chiral dopant . The experiment we carry out is that the fabricating of HAN and HTN mode cell and the V-T measurement. It appears that HTN has lower threshold voltage in comparing with TN. The experiment results also indicated that the threshold voltage appeared increase along with increasing of cell thickness. It demonstrated that the smaller threshold voltage and faster response time for this HTN mode display device . The greatest characteristic of HAN mode on performance is no threshold voltage . Therefore , only applying extremely minor voltage enables to exhibit electro-optic property . It results from the existence of elastic deformation prior to voltage applied .
