A transflective LCD featuring dual-mode display is to be reported in this paper. It emerges as a trailblazer in an uncultured field of display where the monostable and bistable LCDs are unified. Unlike its peers of single mode, the proposal of dual-mode LCD empowers versatile applications yet preserving desirable performance. In what follows, general notion of dual mode and design principle are enunciated at length. We demonstrated the optical characteristics of transflective dual-mode LCD, followed by simulated results. Imperfection aside, single cell gap, unique design and desirable performance firmly guarantee dual-mode LCD a very promising future. Commerical software and parameter space are the primary approaches we resorted to.
